LUBBOCK, Texas (press release) – The following is a press release from The United Family:
Each year The United Family celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation Week by going the extra mile for the drivers who are the backbone of the business as well as the regional supply chain.
Under normal circumstances, these team members from The United Family are integral to providing essential, daily necessities to millions of guests across Texas and New Mexico. However, over the past 18 months, the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disaster have shown just how imperative their work truly is.
Cash Eagan, vice president and general manager of Llano Logistics, said the work of the nearly 60 staff drivers has been exceptional, regardless of the circumstances placed on them over the past year and a half.
“I really want to take this week to recognize the incredible accomplishments of the pilots that we have on staff,” said Eagan. “It doesn’t matter if it’s COVID or a winter storm like we’ve never seen before, these drivers are showing up to help support our customers and they are doing it at a high standard.”
In 2020 alone, The United Family drivers made nearly 50,000 deliveries to stores and in so doing helped put more than 1.15 billion pounds of groceries on the shelves. To achieve this, drivers have driven more than 11.5 million kilometers throughout the year.
“Just take a look at these statistics to understand what our drivers do on a daily basis,” said Ryan Dotson, Transportation Manager for Llano Logistics. “They move thousands upon thousands of pounds of merchandise every day so customers have the products they need. They really are one of the toughest working groups in this business.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is held every September to recognize the important work of truck drivers across the country.
