A 24-year-old truck driver was burned to death while another was injured after a head-on collision between two trucks near the town of Indri on the Karnal-Yamunanagar national highway on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Bilal from Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh. The injured cleaner, Rizwan from Uttar Pradesh, was taken to hospital. Police said Bilal and Rizwan came from Yamunanagar after loading building materials. When they reached the town of Indri, another truck coming from the opposite side hit their vehicle and the collision caused a fire.
A police team and a firefighter went to the scene and put out the fire.
Satpal, head of Indri Police Station, said a case was registered under Sections 279, 304A, 337 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code.
The vehicles have been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Five dead in accidents in Bhiwani, Dadri
Five people have been killed in two separate road incidents in Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri districts of Haryana in the past 24 hours.
In the first accident, three people, including a mother-son duo, were killed after a gallop hit a motorbike and a bicycle in the Malikpur village of Bhiwani.
Bawani Khera police chief Sandeep Sharma said the incident happened when Sunil Kumar, 27, and his mother Rajbala, 50, were traveling to their fields on a motorbike and Mahipal, 24, with his cousin Ankit, were riding a speeding gallop and collided with a motorcycle and a bicycle simultaneously, killing three people instantly. Ankit was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment in hospital.
“The driver of the gallop fled and we seized the vehicle. We booked the driver for reckless driving and causing death by negligence,” the SHO added.
Meanwhile, angry villagers have blocked National Road 148-B which connects Bhiwani and Hansi. After administrative officials agreed to build a speed bump near the main bus stand in the village of Malikpur, residents picked up the bodies there and sent them to the hospital for autopsy.
In another accident, two people died and as many were injured after their car hit a tree on Saturday evening in the Rudlod village of Charkhi Dadri.
The deceased were identified as Rajender, 40, and Vikas, 28, from Kitlana village in Dadri.
The accident happened when four people were driving to attend a wedding ceremony and their car crashed into a tree. Two people were seriously injured and are being treated at a hospital in Dadri.
