Large-scale 999 operation launched after lorry crashes into Harborough district home

A busy road was closed by police in a village in Harborough this morning due to an ‘ongoing incident’.

A large-scale 999 operation has been launched after a lorry rammed into a house in a village in Harborough district today (Monday).

Police, firefighters and an ambulance all rushed to the scene after the wagon crashed in front of the house on Leicester Road, Fleckney.

The rush-hour crash happened just before 8.30am this morning, Leicestershire Police said.

Police say “significant damage” was done to the property, but no one was hurt in the bizarre incident.

Officers have closed Leicester Road between the Coleman Road and High Street junction until further notice as the accident has been resolved.

Two fire engines from Wigston station were dispatched to attend the incident.

No one in the house was injured, Leicestershire firefighters said.

The severely shaken truck driver was examined by medics at the scene but is not believed to be injured, firefighters said.

Firefighters made sure the damaged home was structurally safe before leaving at 10:12 a.m.
